The Great Resignation

 April 5, 2022

Material security promises of riches, and social status are just some of the many ways jobs keep people working, but many are starting to realize that all those lucrative rewards are not enough to lead a fulfilling life.

The Great Resignation is a trend raging across the world that has shown that you can only stifle a person's soul for so long.

What Is The Great Resignation?

The Great Resignation is an economic phenomenon where an unprecedented amount of resignations were given by workers across the United States. The workers voluntarily quit or did not return to work even after the pandemic measures were lifted and the government stimulus benefits ran out.

The shocking number of resignations is not an event limited to the United States, other nations such as France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany have also seen a rise in people voluntarily quitting.

The Great Resignation also comes simultaneously with other movements protesting against the current way the system works. For example, across the world in China, the Tang Ping or "Lying flat" movement has people pursuing goals and passions instead of working conventional corporate jobs.

What is Causing The Great Resignation?

Some of the most passionate and radical supporters of the Great Resignation compare modern work to slavery. That's an exaggeration, but one can't help but notice how many workers had no control over their workplace and conditions before the pandemic.

You must have felt it to some extent as well. Once you reach adulthood, you are thrown into a world where you are expected to be obedient, submissive to authority, and not express who you are.

Some can bear this sacrifice because it provides them material security, but as economic inequality has continued to soar in recent years, even a decent salary and work conditions for a soul-sucking job are no guarantee.

You, like many others, are most likely a person who wants to experience freedom and reach personal fulfillment. That's very hard to achieve if the company you work in labels you as just another replaceable asset, another number in the system.

It's dehumanizing to feel like a cog in the machine and for your own unique and creative traits to be repressed because they are not deemed useful or value-maximizing for the company. The thought that your company does not care for you or appreciates your contribution is one that many people don't actively think about or realize, but it burdens them emotionally, nevertheless.

It's that feeling of dread stuck inside your chest whenever you are going to work or the exhaustion that has somehow reached your bones while you are coming back from work. Finishing a typical 9 to 5 shouldn't feel like a marathon, yet it does.

Living this way may be bearable right now, and it may lead to some long-term benefits, but there's no guarantee that you won't burn out before you reach that point. There's only so much you can do to force your body, mind, and soul into something that doesn't align with your dreams and values.

Before you know it, allowing yourself to be miserable and dissatisfied will poison the rest of your life. You can't find joy in hobbies and passions if you lose track of who you are. Nor can you love and appreciate others if you go down the path of self-loathing.

Take a Single Step

Life is overwhelming, now more than ever. You live in a time where society is questioning how its systems and values are designed. You have probably gone through months or even years of social isolation and financial insecurity since the pandemic.

What if you could try to fix your situation by just taking a step? Just a single step.

Will a single step be enough? You may be asking yourself skeptically. Life isn't easy, usually, the harder something is, the more rewarding the results will be. A single step won't change your life as if you snapped your fingers and everything was now perfect. Nevertheless, taking a step is needed for you to progress, get momentum and eventually reach IT.

Тhe IT in question is your end destination, the one you crave and dream about. Everybody has one, even if they don’t admit it, even if it’s an unfinished and vague thought that pops up in their head from time to time.

To reach the end destination you need to take a step but not just any step, it ought to be one in the right direction. To know where you are going you need a map, one that is sturdy enough to survive any storm that you may encounter. A map that can show you the path forward no matter what your end destination happens to be.

To discover who you are and learn the bulletproof method that I and many others have used to reach success in our personal and professional lives, consider getting my book Unleash The Power Of Experimentation – A Timeless Strategy to Live Your Potential.

You can succeed on your own if you put in enough effort but it’s better to have a trusty companion by your side. A source from which you can draw both wisdom and inspiration.
